I have been sewing like a maniac over the last few weeks and working on the beaded lampshades that will debut in 2014. Long strands of beads wired up and ready to go lay on the floor of the MiMBY workshop forgotten as I focus like a laser on holiday gift items.
My work table reflects the chaos of my work habits:
I keep telling myself that no one knows what you make if you don't take the time to photograph and post. But solo parenting over the last week (we're into Week 2 now) has set me on my heels. And every time the light seems conducive to photography I have to take a kid somewhere or feed someone. I'M NOT COMPLAINING, really, I'm not. I am blessed by an amazing family and a really great life, but my energy wanes. I can make stuff, but that's about it. Perhaps I need to revisit my haphazard approach to work and schedule marketing activities. I also need to consider a new digital camera. When your phone takes better pictures than your 6 year old digital camera (dark ages, I know!), then an upgrade is inevitable. Meanwhile, good friends have offered the loan of cameras and I think it's time to take them up on it.
For those of you still reading (thanks!), MiMBY will be hosting a Holiday Gift Market here at Chez Tilling on Friday, Dec. 6th from noon-7pm. This will be an opportunity to purchase locally made gifts from local artisans, drink wine, see the inside of an old house if you're into that, visit with friends, and get into the holiday spirit. We'll have jewelry, bags, cards, soaps, and I don't really know what else, but I'll keep you posted! MiMBY will also be participating in the Caroline Winter Market on Saturday, Dec. 7th.
